Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
Years & years ago couple guys here on OB posted directions, instructions, measurements, etc, etc of how to build an adaptor plate to put a 6 speed ZF in place of a ZF 5 speed on our IDI's.
I don't remember who it was but I was seriously considering it for a while but later I just shelved my idea.
I even saved all the info on my puter.......But where???
I've saved soooo much really good info under my puter "Bookmarks" & haven't thought of it for so long I'd be 6 months finding it again!!!
I might as well go to Walmart & buy a box of CrackerJacks & get the toy ZF6 Adapter out & go from there!!! LOL LOL

Nero, thank you for that link. That fella gave a great explanation of fitting a ZF6 to an IDI. I get it now. I saved it to a file for future reference. So it can be done. It's something I would relish doing since I have the tools, but I think I need to temper my excitement and realize that I just need to get the truck roadworthy right now not add more work. I need to try and stick to plug and play for now. I'm already modifying the front end as it is to fit it for 4x4 use. That's enough modification for now. When he said he needed to pound the floor board for clearance that's when I took a pause, and he's just doing a 2WD tranny. I imagine a 4x4 with a transfer case attached would be an even bigger issue.
