IP and Injectors before turbo?

I am acquiring a Banks turbo from a guy on another site. My question is whether to replace the IP and injectors before I mount the turbo in place? I ask since I remember hearing that things get pretty tight once you mount the turbo.

Also, if I should replace them do you guys think that I should put in the G (turbo specific...?) Code injectors in the pickup instead of the others?

Thanks
Thad

I also am wondering about this. Im in the process of putting a turbo on my truck. Ive already got a new IP. But ive still got the original injectors. Im going to be replacing them for sure when the turbo goes on. But is it worth it to put the G Code injectors on?

I didn't and I wouldn't.... The BB Delphis have rave reviews. The optimum performance would be to get a modified DB2 from Mel or DPS or your own local builder and some brand new BBs. Moose Pump is pretty expensive and Ken at DPS can be pretty unreliable, a stock fuel system with a turbo is definitely a big improvement over stock N/A.

If the turbo is a sidewinder you wont have any trouble getting to the injecters. Well... Maybe the number 7 on the passenger side is kinda hidden but it can be removed. The Moose pump is really a great pump and its not expensive at all. You get way more than you pay for thats for sure. Mine needed to be turned down some because of the way I drive. As it came I could hit any boost and any pyro temp so driving was only by the pyro and boost gauge for a while. Now its 10 lbs of steady boost and around 950 to 1000 degrees pulling hard so its really easy to drive. The Moose injecters are the next thing I'm going to try.

I didn't say the Moose Pump wasn't a good value. It is a hopped DB2 pump and it delivers as advertised without the hassle of dealing with Ken and his shady customer service. But it's going to cost 2 times what a stock pump would, most likely. Maybe less for somebody like you who as you told us had a near perfect turbo pump core already.

I did install G codes before putting my Banks turbo on.... I don't know if it was the right move or not. But no problems or concerns so far. I drove around for months with the G codes, and NO turbo, and didn't notice any difference - except in idle quality. I don't think there's a correct answer to your question. But I do think the right thing to do is to change your injectors (to whatever code you prefer) if they are high mileage. Changing from worn, high mileage injectors to new ones will make the biggest difference.

Yes.. My turbo pump needed very little "repairs" but I have seen stock turbo pumps for $500.00 on Ebay. I do run a set of "G" code injecters but will be changing htem for BB or something else. I'm really not happy with them. On cold startups my truck runs like its a gasser thats about to flood out. I will be pop testing them soon. I have another set of g codes and they poped very close to being the same but some spray patterns were very differant. Maybe I have a leaker causing me some trouble. Its just something to do now as everything else is working fine......

I will say this again, the injector is just a nozzle set to a pressure, the pump does the work. G codes are much higher pop and so cause some timing issues that cant be sorted out unless you have a turbo spec pump.. I know because I have tried, that is why my G codes are set to E spec plus 200 lbs.
