I'm looking to put a intercooler from a wrecking yard in my '94 IDI and they have two types. One is a catalytic converter type and one is not, does anyone know which one I should be looking for? Thanks
Hold on...what do you mean by a "catalytic converter type?" Intercoolers are like radiators, and sit in front of them. I have never heard the term you just described, but I might be wrong. Usually people opt for an intercooler out of a 7.3 or 6.0 powerstroke.
we don't run boost numbers like the PSD guys do. either type will work.
ideally, if they have a all aluminum IC avail, get it. if not, the composite ones will do too.
I don't understand the catalytic converter type either but I got an all aluminum one out of a 2001 non catalytic with the tubes and all connectors for $200. I guess I can't complain. Bob
I actually mean the intercooler itself. starting a few years ago some of the Volvos started having radiators that doubled as catalytic converters that converted tailpipe emissions from the vehicles in front of them as it passed through . The technonology then spread to other european brands and to intercoolers, hence why I was wondering if that's what he might have been looking at.
