I didnt exaggerate much, that sucker is heavy. I have to say a 7.3 powerstroke ic is probably 20-30 pounds. I would not have bought a intercooler setup had it not have come with the turbo kit I bought. However the hypermax is a very nice kit, works very well, With some work bolts in very nicely. The price is steep I have to say. I would build your own before buying one. You could go the route of buying one, or what I probably would have done is get a 7.3 intercooler. I did buy a 12 valve dodge intercooler for $50 before I bought my turbo kit so I could intercool my truck eventually. It would be a very close fit. Seeings how dodges have a smaller radiator. Either way I ended up selling it as I had a hypermax one with the turbo. Back on topic. 7.3 intercooler or 6.0 whatever is cheaper, lets be real most of us wont push 30+ psi regularly. so buy a ebay $100 kit of 3'' piping. It has various 90* 180* and such piping. and mock up how you want to run it. I would also suggest since you dont have a welder possibly buying the r&d idi performance intake manifold for ease of mounting ic, but you would have to do away with the airbox. (which I cant wait to get rid of mine) heck might even be able to use most of the 7.3 piping. Use silicone boots for the joints. I have to agree. the hypermax is a nice kit and easy to install. but i swear part of what makes us idi people who we are is the ability to put together something nice for the best cost. I would build my own.
edit: that is also why I put together the thread of intercooler piping pics, to give ideas as to what others had done. If you look only myself and one other one in there are hypermax kits. All the rest others have built.
