I noticed in your sig you don't mention a "turbo". I always wondered about water injection without a turbo myself but have never seen one in action.:dunno

Trust me there is a turbo thats going to go on his truck after we build his motor to handle it:D when we build his engine were going crazy on it its going to be a bad ass IDI:sly cant go into specific details on things were going to do to it as its dustins truck/engine so im not allowed to tell much, but if he wants you too know then you will know;Sweet

**** injection is a gtreat performance mod and, well, I love performance. I would have to say that in an IDI street application I might shy away from it. Here is why:

these are completely mechanically contolled and do not have a way to adjust timing based on fuel and intake changes. water/**** injection is great for adding a good dose of hp by lowering the incoming air charge, it also helps fight high egt's caused by running a lot of fuel.

Basically if you want to take full advantage of a water/**** system you will be running an amount of fuel that without the water/**** injection you would burn up a piston.

a small water/**** system like Snow performance offers is a really light duty kit that is really just meant for dropping egts during "extreme" towing occasions or some stoplight to stoplight fun. Even in those 2 scenarios, these smaller systems are only going to net you a 200 degree drop in egt's.

The thing about setting up a mechanically timed motor to run a water/**** system is that you are going to size your injection volume based on your fueling. if you arent gonna be running so much fuel that a water/**** system is required just to keep the motor together I wouldnt bother running one. knocking down a max of 200 degrees in egt's isn't going to be a real big help. For the money you would spend adding a water/**** system i think you would be better off jamming some propane in instead.

Abull I just so happen to agree with you, but I think you answered the wrong question. He was asking how to build a **** kit, and you told him it wasn't what he wanted.

yeah, just adding my opinion on them, i think he should build a propane kit instead.

A 200 degree drop in EGT's can mean the difference between staying in the gear your in, or dropping to a lower one, or taking your foot out of it. It's the same as an intercooler, and I don't think it's fair to discount it's usefullness. Propane is only going to increase EGT's and may yield more power that is unusuable, just like extra fuel will. I've ridden in 2 IDI's with water/**** injection, and you do get a definite kick when you flip the switch. Thats usable power.

agreed, and disagreeing. water/**** does what you stated. i dont believe that people initially look at a water/**** kit as you do, ie holding a gear to pull a grade. that scenario constitutes a small requirement with infrequent occurance. like you said you can get the same from an IC so if you are going to be in situations that constantly require you to spray water/**** pick a different route because then you are always filling you water/**** jug or carrying a big jug with you at all times. in my opinion water/**** is really only useful in high power apps.

as far as propane you can get just as good a slug of power out of less propane than water/****. Propane "may" increase egt's depending on the amount you are jamming in there.
