As mine sits waiting for my to stop working on my truck I still wonder why its not out on the road. So many things left to do. I really need to start something here at home... Like maybe open up my shop to idi repairs of any kind. Maybe build modified motors to finance other projects like my cord just sitting there.....

Its a 1937 Cord Custom Beverly sedan. It has front wheel drive actuated by an electrical-vacuum shifting system. It was built by Auburn Cord Dusenburg Corp in Indiana. When they came out in 1936 everybody wanted one but they hadn't built any yet. So everyone paid and waited for them. Only 2320 of these cars were built when Cord went out of business. In the late 40s you could buy one for 150.00 easily. Now a tail lite lense will cost you $250.00 if anyone will sell one. Of the 2320 built only around 650 still are out there. I have one of them. Its been off the road since 1948 but someone "saw it" and reported it to the historian who lives about 5 miles from me. When I took position of it I joined the ACD club and they told me to call the historain about my car. I did this in 1975 and he told me who owned it, how many spare parts were with it and where it was sitting.... Yes... I was shocked for sure. These are a very desireable automobile by many collecters of wealth and statcher. The Dusenburg group is the wierdest bunch. They know where every car is. They were built as a rolling chassie. Then shipped to a body fitter. The truely wealthy had a summer & winter body made for some of the cars. Jay Leno has a very rare Dusenburg that he drives because he wants people to see and hear these great cars of the past. He has a "indy type looking car with a Sherman Tank motor in it. He took it up to Banks engineering and asked Gale "what can you do for this motor?". They built and induction system twin turbo setup for him. Now it kicks ass... Funny what money can do....

I don't know if it's still there but in the late 70's there were a half dozen or so Cords and alot of other cars/machinery in barns next to a golf course in Morgan Hill area of Cali. The guy that owned the property sold his camper manufacturing company for like $10 mil and was intending to have a museum on the property. I think he actually had some other car that was 1 of 2 or 3 in the world from the 30's. Anyways it was his plan to build the world's largest bar on the golf course and he also started up American Clipper camper manufacturing.

Well, it sold for the price of the motor alone. As I posted if only I had the room for it. Realisticly the Cord I own really should be enough for one person. Gees, I drive an 89 Ford diesel. I have a 79 chevy truck and really never have bought any new car or truck. But still having a rarer car than what I have would have been really neet... So now I'll watch it go to a new home where hopefully someone will restore it soon and get it back on the road....

Interesting- When I was in high school I wiorked some for a giuy thet bought all kinds of antiques not just cars-anything. Any way hye bought a Holley car made by the Holleys of Holly carbureor company(before they made just carburetors.There was only 2 known of at the time -Ford had almost found this one but my friend beat them to it. Ford sent blue prints of the frame (it was missing-tha car was in peices in an attic in Maine somewhere) I worked on it some -we made the hood,After that I went over seas and lost track of the car-never saw it again-I think a muesium some where bought it.This is one of them -I don,t know if it was the one I helped on or not.But it is beautiful. The angled strips on the side of the hood that hold the top to the sides are brass soldered in to form the coffin like angle.

When We lived in town, a guy two blocks away had a Supercharged Dusie. Talk about a beautiful piece of machinery. Every piece was like a work of art. The polished head bolts were cast with letters on the heads that spelled out Duesenberg.

I'm sure the guy got sick of Me. Every time I saw His garage door open, I popped in to drool over His car.

I grew up outside of Ft. Wayne, Indiana (where Travis and Barney live). It was just a hop, skip, and a jump up to Auburn. They have (or at least used to) a convention, or parade of sorts every year. More Auburns, Cords, and Dusies than you can imagine all in one spot for the weekend. Very impressive. Of course that was 25+ years ago so I don't know if they still do it. As a matter of fact, we had our high school prom in the ballroom at the museum one year. Pretty cool. The Cords were always my favorite of the three.
