Dad got his 97 F450 running today, which has h/boost. He says the steering is REALLY tight... like there's no fluid in the pump. He checked the level, was a tad low, so he topped it off but it made no difference. Is there a procedure to bleeding the system? He hasn't tried to drive it, and its been sitting for a few years (we guess). Any ideas?

.... and before you say "that's a p/stroke! Wrong forum" I know, I know. But I figure that enough guys here have swapped to h/boost and are more knowledgeable.

jack up the front end off the ground.
you should be able to turn from lock to lock with the motor running and be able to purge the system of air.
IF you still have stiffness in the steering with the front end off the ground, you have bigger problems. your kingpins are seized up.
btw....I'm going to move this thread to the F450 dept.

I'll second getting the front wheels off the ground and running the wheel from bump stop to bump stop. Several times will get all the air out of the system.;Sweet
