How much is a rebuildable 6.9 worth?

I've been offered a motor that has been pulled and is sitting in a truck bed (covered). The owner claims it ran good when it was pulled, but she doesn't know why they pulled it. It looks to be complete and not too rusty.

Was looking for a motor I can rebuild at my leisure while I continue to feed oil to the old leaker that still runs good. (I HATE OIL LEAKS!)

Is $300 seem about right to offer? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would offer 100. After all, you didnt hear it run and why would you pull a good running engine anyway

Go to your local scrap yard and check price on motor cast, then adjust your price accordingly.
Brad; scrap must be damn low were you live, I can get that out of a small block here in the scrap yard.

Actually scrap is really good where I live. Cars are $14 a 100lbs. tin is $12 a 100lbs. And cast is about $0.52 a 100lbs. I am sure an cast engine block would weigh around 900lbs so that would net about $46 bucks. So I stand by my $100. which is DOUBLE what it is worth in scrap

I got mine on a 1/2 off sale for $145 complete. And I had to pull it. Inside was unbelievably good. It's kind of a crap shoot until you open it up and see how you rolled.

Motor cast round here was $290/ton here last I checked.

I don't think $300 is unresonable for a running motor. Your lucky you didn't hear it run, or it wouild be $500 easy.
