Home Made Dual Stacks.

I wanted to put stacks on my truck ever since I bought it last winter. The kits are too much money in my opinion, and buying the parts separatly would have cost even more! So I decided to make my own stacks out of some of the factory exhaust system and some pipe I bought at the local Napa store....this is what I have so far. I still have to buy a couple elbows and weld the whole system together before I take some pics of the final product. I am welding the whole setup and getting rid of all those temporary clamps. After all the welding is done I plan on grinding the ugly welds off and painting the whole things flat black with that high heat paint. Just one redneck making something out of nothing. I don't know how good that "Y" will work, but it is drilled out with a hole saw and welded up air tight so it will not leak.

Well...its different. I would have gone a little shorter and larger diameter.

I decided to try and get my hands on some 4" or 5" piping and go with that! I heard an IDI non turbo going the other day with a 2.5" manifold to muffler (not sure what the muffler was) and then to a 5" adaptor and out through dual 5" stacks......what a beautiful sound! Brought a tear to my eye and inspired my new stacks......gotta sell some more parts to fund them though! The better half is getting a little "interested" in the cash flow into the f250 and F350......

I can appreciate the something from nothing concept and it sure will work. It won't sound the best, but since you say your going to bigger pipe, maybe this is all very temporary. I'm not a fan of flex pipe or non-mandrel bends. Making it free flowing is probably more important than going to a larger size in my opionion.
