Wth would that screw in? Were would the wires hook up? That Dorset not look like any kind of controller I've ever seen...

This is the for the 6.9. the controller is hidden on the back of the engine. The original controllers were not the best. I am wondering if it is actually improved over the original controller.

Yep, thats a GP controller, same as the 6.2's had in them and the new system is a scream above those things. If it went out, you might as well get ready to sit for awhile. Average cost was about $125 each and lasted maybe a year. The real pita was that it would break off when trying to replace and you would have to remove the plate that it bolted into.
Well I'm gonna take one for the team. I just bought one. The Scarlett Moose needs a new controller, and my son has not got around to putting a push button on it yet. We're gonna try this out and see if it is something I can recommend going forward.

Thanks Mel for falling on tis gernade. Hope it works out well for you. Burning up a set of glows is not a favorite thing to replace. So 29 years on the same 6.9 controller... Thats impressive... Whats your secret to sucess...
sometimes i think mel buys these things to replace parts so it looks like he does matience lol. icanfixall have you ever seen his motor its showroom nice most of us got layers upon layers of dirt grime and grease the moose truck never heard of

This controller is an updated solid state design. The original sensors were electro-mechanical and had an extremely high failure rate. Our replacements have been re-engineered using modern electronics technology for much improved reliability. Externally the sensor will appear unchanged and will plug in perfectly with no modifications. Operating characteristics have not changed. If you need to diagnose the system after installing our controller, please keep in mind that continuity tests published for original electro-mechanical style sensors are no longer valid.
Hopefully updated testing procedures would be sent along with the unit?
