How much and what weight does a sterling 10.25 take? I dont have L/S so I wont need any friction modifyer. I am thinking about useing Mobile 1 85w140wt synthetic Gear lube, Good idea or not?

I used 80W90 weight royal purple synthetic. I packed the wheel bearings in synthetic wb grease as well, so my capacity could have been reduced, but 3 quarts did mine with a little to spare. That was the axle from the 85 F350, but I don't imagine them being much different as long as they are both 10.25's!

80W90 for my 1987 from my oil, lube and filter book. I would guess either would be fine.
