I currently drive a 94' CC Dually 7.3 IDI with the ' K ' original
factory unmolested turbo .......

This is my fourth IDI F350 - all told I have racked up 1 million plus
miles over the past 7 years towing in all the lower 48 states ....

I have only bought new ' BB ' code injectors before,
but I never owned a ' K ' turbo before ......

So I am going to try a different approach regarding injectors:

I tried buying a new set listed below but they were sold out:

I am planning on buying a remanufactured set and have them
independently pop tested before shipping ...

Accurate Diesel sells an independently remanufactured set
of ' G ' code injectors for $169 plus a $50 core charge - I am told they are pop tested by the remanufacturer ......

I am trying to order a set and have Accurate Diesel pop test them
before shipping which they offer to do for $29.95 here:

I will let you all know how it turns out .....

It doesn't say anything about re-setting them after the test if needed.

G code's arn't worth a damn anyhow, BB is what you want.

I disagree ....

Bill,

I disagree that ' G ' code injectors aren't worth a damn.

I believe on a ' K ' code IDI that ' G ' code injectors used
in conjunction with a correct IDI pump on an unmolested
engine is the way to go ....

I believe that the majority of remanufactured IDI injectors
are not worth a d@mn because they are not rebuilt correctly.

I am trying to hold the Seller to his claim about the QUALITY
of the independently remanufactured injectors he is offering
for sale ..... :cool

The Seller claims the independently remanufactured injectors
are pop tested before he resells them - he claims they are remanufactured
in the states .......

By paying the pop test charge to him, I am getting
his independent pop test of the pressures
before he ships .....

If he ships remanufactured injectors that he tests that are
popping below what a ' G ' code should pop at, then he is shipping faulty
remanufactured injectors by his own admission .....

The plain truth that everyone is dealing with right now
is that new BB injectors are on backorder for everyone
and unless someone has a line on new old stock
a person is limited in what they can buy ...

These are the correct replacement for "G Code" Injectors]QUOTE]

There Quote.
I don't see where they say that they are G code injectors, other than they are a "direct replacement" whatever that means, unless you contacted them and they indicated that they are in fact G codes. :dunno

I hate to assume, but does that set of injectors come with a card labelling what each popped at? I trust no one, too many people are out to make a buck and even more do it by telling a person what they want to hear.

The only way to know what code they truly are is to know the part numbers of the tip pieces.

I replaced all my G code injecters with new many years ago. I do have a Rotunda injector tester and tested all the new injectors and they tested fine they all popped at the same pressure all had a nice fine mist spray pattern and none leaked or dripped. I would get the remans and have them tested at a local diesel shop. If you end up with a problem injecter simply contact the ebay vender and explain that you had them checked at a local diesel shop and had 1 or 2 bad ones and wanted to exchange them. If you pay extra for for him to test his own injectors, why would retest them they were already rebuilt and tested once right or maybe he will retest them who knows maybe he will have his injector rebuilder retest a set. Having them tested by a local diesel shop is like getting a second opinion and will tell the quality of the rebuild

If someone represents themself as being competent and knowlegable
in what they do - I will give them my business ....

I have exchanged emails with Accurate Diesel.

I am comfortable ordering (8) remanufactured ' G 'code injectors
from them for $169 - paying the $50 core fee - paying the $30
fee to have them pop test and record each injector .....

According to Accurate Diesel, the ' G ' code IDI injectors had
a higher pop pressure than the ' BB ' code IDI injectors.

Specifically, I emailed that I expect pop test pressures
of 2100 PSI or higher.

I will install them & post results on this thread .....

When I had my 94 factory turbo "K" truck I decided it was time to replace injectors at 190k. I went with new BB codes from Russ that he had tested and matched. I immediately saw a 2mpg increase, with a noticeable increase in acceleration as well. The "G" code injectors were used for emissions reasons also so I would recommend going with BB's too.

Jim. Thanks for trusting someone and giving them a chance. I aplaud that sence very much. I feel you will not get the mpg nor the proformance out on the G codes new or rebuilt but you are doing what you feel is the right thing to do. Nobody can argue with that. Trying a set of Bb codes costs time and money. Some never have both at the same time. I hope you will post what you find out and it seems like the seller is willing to work with you. If I had my G codes with around 8000 miles on them together I would send them to you but... I took the shims from them when I pop tested my BB from Russ. I had around 5000 on them and the springs were set. Thats a tuff job shimming injectors. The shims come from 1 thousands up to 74 thousands thick. At least thats what I got from my spares of G abd Bb codes. I tried many locations for shims... No deal. One shop had just thrown out two 5 gallon buckets full of them......

I've got G - E - A and BB code injectors, some even made in Italy. Guess I gotta get off my ass and rebuild them, soon as I get moved and all the Cervical operations, stress testing, X-rays and DR appointments, starting Monday and going on next month. Feb 22 is the big day.

I put new G codes in mine a few years back I poped all of them myself poped within 50psi of each other and at factiry spec great spray pattern also poped the old ones with over 180,000 on them one was garbage, 4 still were at factory speck and great spray pattern and the others were still within service limits and had good spraypaterns. My truck gets 20mpg highway if I drive nice and will tow anything I want at highway speed.

Oh and for the records G codes were not designed just for emision they were also designed to fuel a turbocharged 7.3l IDI engine the same year N/A used E codes wich were for emissions.

I want to do a dyno comparison between Gs and BBs at some point just to see.

wouldn't you think replacing injectors with twice their normal life expectancy with any code at all, would give better performance and economy though?
seriously,im surprised you were not down 5 mpg or more.

Repeated Myths are not what I am interested in ....

I am not interested in Gossip & Myth about injectors ....

About anything else for that matter .....

Since I actually use my truck every day in my business
driving all over the country towing ...... ;Really

I am interested in fuel mileage - reliability - performance

I maintain my equipment with that in mind,
my goal is to get up every day and drive without incident

My IDI's have never let me down .....

@sshole mechanics have ..... -cuss

My personal opinion on ' G ' code injectors:

They were engineered and designed to pop at a higher pressure
than ' BB ' code injectors to provide more horsepower when
utilized on the IDI ' K ' code engine equipped with the
turbo IDI pump ....

Furthermore, a remanufactured injector utilizes " worn springs "
that should not wear further - so if the tips and shims are
correct - they should maintain their ' pop pressure '
beyond the life of a new injector with new springs

I am making an informed decision in my purchase,
I don't factor in Myth & Gossip .... :puke:

Just Experience and Facts ....... ;Sweet
