Hey guys and gals got a question. On top of my fuel and water Sep. It has a black rubber looks like censor and its letting a lot of fuel out from under it. Is there a way to tighten it? How do you get it off? Also looks like between the filter and housing it comes out a little too. Is the filter just bad and need replaced? Any help is wanted losing a lot of fuel.

its the fuel heater connection , you have to remove the filter head then the inside unscrews and you can get to the connector. it has a o ring on it.

I changed mine without removing the filter head. I just removed the filter and unscrewed everything from there. It's a pretty easy thing to do.

I did this a few weeks ago and used this link to help me do it. There are actually two o-rings and I learned that the hard way and had to take it back apart. The second o-ring is "hidden" inside the fuel heater itself. This write-up does a good job explaining it.

Keep in mind you can get o-rings that will work from places other than IH and ford.

I happened to have a viton o-ring assortment, so I used one of them. These same o rings wouldn't work on my return line caps, but this one is presses into a tapered cone, so it's a little less sensitive to perfect OEM fit than the return line caps.

Here's another link. This has some really good pictures. If it looks like this, there are two o-rings to change. One you will see as soon as you remove the heater. The other o-ring is inside the heater. To access it, you unclip the plastic shell from the metal and push the electric spade through the hole it sticks out of. I didn't know about the second one until I'd put it all back together and it still leaked.. :/ Hope this helps!
