a friend of mine is selling a 2001 f250 7.3 4x4 zf6 extended cab short bed. i have not seen it yet but i guess he hit two trees so the front end is in ruff shape. it would just be a parts truck for me. he said the zf was recently rebuilt and the motor has new injectors. he hasn't given me a price yet but what would be an estimate of the value in parts or as a whole. i will have some pictures soon. thanks

If it's well maintained, and you need the parts, a PSD goes for about a grand and the ZF6 would probably get 800-900 if it's complete. I would say $1500 would be a good deal depending on the condition. If you really need it, or had a perfect truck to bolt it all into, I would pay more for it, especially if you knew the service history.

Just my .02

i bought a super clean 02 F350 CC LB DRW for 1k, minus engine and trans.

01 engines have powder rods, so there not desirable as much.
the 6 speed is be interested in for a grand, i really need the pedals and the whole set up :D

can i count dibs on the conversion stuff if you get it and if they become forsale?

anything more than 3k if the front axle is shot is too much IMO

if I buy it would be strictly parts. I don't own a superduty so there is no urgency for any parts. what I am mostly interested in is the drive train. if it would work I would love to have a zf6 in my IDI. :D

IDIoit if I get this thing you can have first dibs on any interior parts, for I have no use for them.

the 6 speed is cool, but its more like a granny trans.
unless you are towing massive loads, the ZF5 is better.
the guys that i know that have the ZF6 dont use 1st too much.
they are still the same final ratio in OD, im pretty sure

im going the 6 speed route, because i plan on towing a heavy boat.

the best thing about that truck is the harness!
ive found that they can be modified so you can run it in anything.

you know man, id hate to shoot myself in the foot.
but powerstrokes are pretty damn awesome.
i love my IDI, but those 7.3 DI's are pretty damn decent.

i would advise you get it. and fix it.
only down side is that they are spendy, and you need a scanner to work on them

well, atleast the engine has forged connecting rods.
id pay 1500 for the engine and trans.
front of that cab is beat, i would not rebuild it. its structurally beat.
axles are selling for 1k-1500
most likely 3:73 gears.

looks like the parts i want are missing.
i need the brake and clutch pedal.
the master and slave ill most likely buy new.
dont think the hydroboost is different inbetween auto and standard. but it looks like thats gone too.

if youre not into powerstrokes, walk away.

ok so I just talked to the owner of the truck, he has paperwork on the transmission rebuild and he has done several tune up related things to the motor. he has all the interior parts and intercooler. he is asking $2,000 for it, is that a little high? he said the trans rebuild was $3,000.

IDIoit, are you still interested in the pedals?

yes sir, i am if there available.
looked like they were already robbed off the truck, but if you can get your hands on them, im down!

only one road block.
i had some fraudulent charges on my card, so if it cant wait a week or so ill have to go get one of those paypal cards.

2k is kinda high. but if you got the $$, space, and time, you can make a grand off the deal.
i would advise to offer him 1800. he most likely wont go any lower than that.

but if the pedals are there, and you decide to make the deal, consider the pedals sold.

id buy the trans if i was closer. and would have no quams payinga grand for the whole trans set up.

im not in a rush to get it. he gutted the truck to try and sell some parts but never did so he said its all in boxes. I will try to snag some pictures of the parts so you can get a better look.

I don't really need it but im fond of fords so it hit my weak spot and now I kind of want it. i am mainly interested in the zf and front and rear axles. I would like to do a PSD swap but that's a pain, and if the seats are in good shape I would like to have those also.
