I forgot about the bottom piece, welding the riser to it made it kind of worthless.
Should have just ponied up for a 3G...lol

Mine is 3G in the first pic above I posted, using the stock mounting setup. It came that way when I bought the van.

Swapped out the heim joint for the OEM bracket.
Hit 65-70mph on a 8 mile test drive without any issues.
Thats as tached out as I'll ever take it.
Used a 24" prybar to tension the alt belt, but it still doesn't get it as tight as the heim joint did.
Took a pic of it on cold high idle, it still looks off to me.

I put a spare belt with tools behind a seat, but really need this issue fixed, have blown through four Fleetpro 57" belts and it's getting expensive as well as PITA.

Are you tightening the vacuum pump belt? That's what looks loose. The vacuum pump has to be tensioned after the alternator.

Belts should not be extremely tight. They should just be tight enough and lined up. It seams like the stock bracket is holding it tighter than before.

There should be an inch or so of deflection on the belt once it is secure. The vac pump tensions separately from the alternator belt.
