I don`t know about flimsy, but they are built to handle 1200 HP. Not that my 6.9 puts out that much. :peelout

A year ago I pulled one out of a 89 F-250 7.3 with a C-6 trans in PNP.
Have it all cleaned up, just need to buy the adaptor for the T-19 trans.

Some people swear by them, I just like regular.

I wouldnt say they are "flimsy" but they are not as bulletproof as GV claims either.
Definitely not a heavy duty piece for sure, strong for there size, yes.

Or you could save yourself that $ and trouble and sell it to me to put on my C6. ;-)

You won`t believe what I paid for it....
The 89 7.3 ws in the yard about 3 months, and I knew it was going to get pulled pretty soon. PNP had their 25% 0ff sale. so went up to check out things.
Took a look see under it, and there was a GV. never seen one in a yard before.....WOW!

Dropped the DL, and then just a matter of the 6 or so nuts to remove it from the adapter to the trans.
Doesn`t really weight much.

The guys at the desk didn`t know what it was, thinking a Transfer Case or???
They charged me what a Trans of TF Case would be...$160.

That was a year ago I pulled it, wherd the year go?

Next day back at it and got the GV Adapter to the C6 trans. $34. I think from GV they are something like $700.
I need the one for the T-19 4-spd box. Called GV and they said send the C-6 one as a core, and it was still pricey,

Been searching on CL, I see used GV listed every once in a while. I think right now on the west coast, from Wa. to southern Ca. there are 4 now.

There is a guy in northern Ca. with 2 for the T-19, but wants $500 for them.

I usually get around 20 mpg. last one was 19.85, and before that 21.65. With the GV it should pump it up a couple more?

Now when Iam in PNP Iam checking under every new truck that come in. :sly
Iam always checking for what ever goodies I can Find. -Showtits

Keep me posted on your progress. ;-)

I have had this thing for a year, and now you want me to do something?;Poke

Guess Iam going to have to break down and just buy the adapter. Iam thinking instead of using the electrical switches etc... Just using an Eaton 2 spd differential switch to shift it. it mounts onto the shift lever for a 4 or 5 spd manual gear box.

This is the Adapter.

Good info. Thank you.
This is my first diesel and I'm having really tough time trying to love it.
But I REALLY appreciate the simplicity and being able to work on it myself. Which was my reasoning for buying it. The top speed of the C6 isn't helping. Even though I rarely need to go more than 60mph.
It just bothers me to hear high rev's unless it's a 2-stroke. ;-)
There is nothing in the entire world like smashing the skinny pedal and hearing a giant 4 barrel open up as it pours unadulterated freedom sauce into a piston pumping pushrod American V8 as your ears start to bleed from the wheel dump when you drop that clutch. With that being said I sold my gasser and now I daily a diesel because it does work good and gets better fuel economy.

That's a great sound. A lot like the whine from a roots type blower. These days neither one is at the top of it's class in all out power, but those sounds mean A LOT to me.

And the way both cylinders fire at the same time on a Harley.

Are you sure? I think both cylinders fire at the same time.
Ok I looked, they're both at the top at the same time but only one is firing.

They can't both be at TDC at the same time. They only use one crank pin for both rods. They are close, but not exact.

Yeah, their pretty close. It's still a wacky setup that sounds cool and fun to ride.

Talk about stealing a thread!
