Love the Cummins..... Just hate what's wrapped around it..

Me, it would be a late 60's early 70's F-250 Cummins or IDI with a zf5 4x4. But stick with the simple original interior and of course adapt in the old twisted gear stick with pipe insulation wrapped around it... Yeah I'm a redneck...

Lol I like the combo too. Those 75 ford 100 - I can’t find one without it being chewed out! I’d love to have one!

If both the Ford and the Suburban are cable-driven, then I have the solution; it is simple and costs about 50-cents.

The same fix on my 1985 F-350/Cummins has been running trouble-free for many years.

Of course, if either one has electronic speedometer, then my fix won't work.

There are quite a few Suburbans with 6BTs in them; they are plenty stout.

That is true but none of them have an f250 frame and running gear.

But many have a 1 ton frame, so your point is moot.

None have a 1 ton some have a 2500. Mine is actually a 2500 but it's not built nearly as well as the Ford's.

I do say so but if u wanna get into the chevy vs ford thing or international vs cummins thing or whatever you want, I am willing to hash it out, however it will be a useless argument because in the end what matters is preference. I have owned both and I work on them for a living so I know exactly what my preferences are which is why I am doing this project. I think its best to leave it at that.

    Right, no problem there.
I'm just saying, there's plenty out there on heavier frames than the 3/4 ford frame.
I'll leave it at this, search "duraburb."

Is this Burb project a '95?

With the exception of the cab & chassis models, the GMT400 series 2500/3500 frames are built the same. The thinner metal used in the front boxed section rusts out faster, and can't take the abuse (pounding/vibration) that a classic heavy c-channel frame will.

A Dana 60 swap is cake with that F250 frame :Thumbs Up

    Yes it is currently a 1995 8600gvw 2500 with 350, 4l80e and 3.73 gears.

Not much of an update but I ran compression on my engine and I have a cylinder that is really low so I did a leak down and it is going out the exhaust. I'm thinking I have a burnt or broken valve so I need to repair that first. I have an extra long block that I can steal a head off of though so shouldn't be too bad. I'm hoping to get that fixed before next weekend cuz next weekend I want to get started on the frame.
