Extra tranny filter?

Ok i got a filter off a school bus, i think was either a tranny filter or a power steering filter? how should i hook it up to my tranny? :dunnoI've got an after market cooler, should i hook up the stock too? what would you do? Pictures to follow!

I'm not sure I follow. Is this filter a line filter without a replaceable element? If so, I'd not use it. Who knows what kind of junk is in there.

Super cheap to just use a napa oil bypass filter inline with your tranny cooler and plain ole oil filters as cheap insurance fer yer automatic.

put it on the out put line coming from the tranny -


should go...

tranny
filter
oem stock cooler in rad
aftermarket cooler
then back to tranny

cool thanks that is what i needed to know, and which is the out line?

Disconnect Both, get a catch can and just start motor for a second or two....whichever one :puke: fluid under pressure is output....simple nuff?

Done this on old cars a few times to figure out which was output...I usually did it at the Rad cause I didnt feel like crawling under the car.

If E4OD the front line is output and rear line is return to the tranny, should be the same on the C6

If your filter head has a sending unit or can have one for a trans temp gauge, I'd put the filter in after the coolers. I had mine in before and pulling the trailer, temps would hit 350+. After the coolers, I've not gotten above 200.

I know, the output is still that hot, but it's not nearly as scary.

I still haven't got pictures of this filter but i did get some of my water separator!
