engine temp light

Ok, in the last couple of months, just doing normal city driving, my engine temp light comes on, but it only came on twice, every other drive, no temp light came on. My coolant level is good, and my temp gauge reads below half, there are no leaks either. All the hoses feel hot, so I don't think theres an air lock, any one have any ideas, thanks.

Look for the wire rubbing the block somewhere. Any bare metal contact will short it to ground and make the light come on.
