I have been reading forum posts from google on people running kerosene in Diesel engines, now this is not the topic, however this topic did lead me to the subject of people running lube and even 2 cycle oil and outboard oil in their diesel to up the lubricity factor of the diesel in order to minimize the engines internal wear and such. So would anyone care to educate me on the subject of which additives conventional and non conventional are best and how much? Thanks

Its pretty common for people to run some TC-W3 2 cycle oil as a fuel additive. Its supposed to make up for the lubrication shortcomings in the ULSD.

Ok and at what ratio, do you now how many points for lubricity?

There are varying schools of thought on the ratio usually depending on what working environment the truck is in. People generally go with 1/2oz to 1oz of TCW3 per gallon. Most have found that the injectors quiet right down.

From what I have read, the old LSD was about 500ppm sulfur content while the ULSD brought that ratio down to 15ppm. I'd have to do a little research to produce the theory and math on how much this helps the lubrication value of the fuel.

I run roughly 1oz 2 stroke oil per gallon of fuel. I'm not real picky as all 2 stroke oils are designed to burn clean.I buy what's cheapest but its usually the tcw3 stuff.

Ok so do you pour straight down the neck or pour into a gallon in a can and then pour in?

People generally figure out what their tank holds and add the appropriate tcw3 into the filler neck before fueling up. The fueling up will mix the oil and fuel.

if I'm adding 2 stroke oil or atf, I just dump in a quart before I put the nozzle in the neck
if I'm running PS, I dump in a good amount before filling
"too much" doesn't really exist

I really feel to much isn't a problem. Its just costly. Our engines will run on straight automatic trans fluid just fine.

So every fill up is fine or helpful to dump some two stroke in my 89 IDI?
