I would guess that the trans would downshift if you tried to do a WOT run starting lower.

Need a manual controller to keep it locked in third and converter locked up. its a little module to plug into the trans and select everything manually.

Ya I actually heard of those before. I heard that it helps with accuracy of dyno runs too.

i'm not sure where to get one but the garage i worked at had one for diagnosing problems with the solenoid pack. needed a longer cord but it would def work.

Check Ebay for ford/rotunda transmission testers, make sure and get one with all the cables and accessories. Got one here at work would make a great tool for doing dyno runs.
