Since the rise in everything we buy, and the shortages of things. The past year or so I have been picking up the FL-1995 filters at Wally World when I see them on the shelf.
Think I have a dozen of them, better check them all to see if all are good.
The price has not changed through all this, still $9.44 ea.
I have seen a couple weeks go by when the shelf`s are empty on these filters, always a ton of fram`s.
I use the Mann filters on my Mercedes Diesels. Never had a problem with them, but on one site I use to purchase parts from, they had a good price on the Heingst Filters, and bought 6.
The top 3/4 of it is metal with lots of small holes, and bottom 3" is pleated paper.
The holes didn`t get punched open, and had to use a pick to push them open...time consuming, but they worked ok.
We took a trip from Santa Cruz, Ca. to Salt Lake City, Ut., I changed the oil before the trip and used a Heingst Filter. When we got back home I changed the oil, The filter had the metal sides sucked in like it had been in a vacuum. I guess the oil was being filtered through the 3" by pass section at the bottom.
I changed the oil & installed the other Heingst filter I had, and drove the car a few miles, came home and pulled the filter out of the canister, and it too was sucked in.
Used Mann filters ever since w/o any problems.
