Seriously? Wow, I thought they were supposed to slide on until "stuck" so the bearing spins on itself and not the spindle. I knew the race came in to play but I figured the two meet in the same location every time. Probably doesn't make sense, super tired and can't think for poop.. Anyway I think you're right , some times I over think things instead of just moving forward and realizing it's fine :)

Exactly what LCAM SAID. The reason the outter bearing floats on zpinde is so there iz capabiity for adjustment of bearings az not all hubs and beari gs cN be made identical.

Inner bearing presses up against spindle and outter presses into hub as spindle nut tightens locating hub rotor in correct locations...another reason calipers float..to allow for differences however subtle from one hub bearing spindle combination to a other.

Hope this helps clear things up

By quality...uours and others lives may ride on it!!!

Makes sense ! Just one of those things I've never had to think about, even though I've been through dozens of hubs. I'll use the new spindles then since there is no ridge and the bearing slides on more freely and is in better overall shape than the old ones.

Thanks guys !
