How would one fab up the flange for the turbo? I mean you would go from 2 up pipes into a flange that somhow goes from tubing shape to square shape.

I could tell you but there have been many write ups on it on www.theturboforums.com with pictures. You can purchase the mount and build a "Y" into the pipe. Or you could cut it out of a piece of stock and try to do it.

I used a DT 466 turbo. Verry easy cost less than 200 bucks to install. But you better have a 3 inch body lift or forget it.

You can not run a 3" body lift with one of these engines. They hit the head on the drivers side at the body seam.

RKOCH how do u have your up-pipe and where do u drain the oil. Also i think i might have enough room in the engine bay for it to work. Personally I dont like body lifts, but what do u really have to change to put one on

no but make sure you poke holes in the baffle under that grommet. otherwise the oil will come in faster than it can drain in and you will have a hellova mess

I'm not so sure you have to poke holes in it. I drove around for a month or two before my turbo went without holes poked in mine and it didnt leak. Though since your in there its cheap insurance ;Sweet

Here's the deal...at least according to Mel, at some point in time all new valley pans were upgraded for the turbo engines...but you have now way of knowing if you have an upgraded valley pan even if you get a new one. I changed my head gaskets and valley pan in late 2003/early 04 but when I did my turbo install in 2007 we poked the holes just for cheap insurance. Its not hard and its better than having to tweak anything once you put all that stuff together.

I came right out of the y pipe to a 3 inch up pipe right around the side of the tranny to the back of the turbo where I made a flange that goes from round to square then bolts up to the back of the mount. Then a 3.5 down pipe off turbo.

you can buy the flanges you need you can get all the tubing for the cold side i would use aluminum. diy turbo kits are easy. I have 87 Mustang drag car that is turboed goes low 8's in the 1/4 and every turbo car me and my friend have ever built for ourselfs is all custom made turbo setups. hell before i put the ford motor back in the 87 mustang i had a V-6 out of a grand national in it. anything is possible if you wanna do it

if i poked holes in the valley pan would there be any problem if i ended up taking the turbo off? The up pipes im just gonna do it like hypermax does theres. And i have a flange cut out i just to cut the two holes in the middle, but im gonna wait until i get the flange gasket before i do that so i can trace the shape.
