my cruise control works most of the time with the lights off...and hardly ever with the lights on... in the day if its working you can pull the head lights switch out and the cruise shuts off... and today it was trying to work... kinda surging (no lights) its a 93 4x4 non turbo 5 speed

check your bulkhead connector in the firewall for corrosion. that would be my first step, that is the first place I can think of thats common between the two systems (i dont have a wiring schematic in front of me thought). the bulkhead connector is on the firewall behind the parking brake pedal. its a pita to get to and diag but I would move the wires and look for a short and/or corrosion.
