Crankcase pressure questions

Ok I have taken the cdr out of the picture and ran a 3/4'' hose from the banks CDR adaptor thing, outside the drivers side frame rails. I also have a hose that runs to the similar place from the drivers side valve cover. At idle there is still smoke coming out of the intake, where the turbo drain sits.

Any thoughts?

if that gasket isn't sealing fully / correctly around the drain tube for the turbo then it will leak out around there. Think of it like when you burn something on the stove and open the windows and doors - the smoke from dinner doesn't just vent through the window, it will creep out every opening....

if you don't want smoke / vapors coming from this spot then you will need to replace the gasket.

well i plan to on friday or sat, but for now I wasn't particuraly worried about the smoke, I was wondering if this will blow oil out of the valley pan. And this smoke started when I removed the CDR

you will get an oily film but it won't blow out oil. the reason it started after removing the CDR is the CDR was plumbed to the intake where it created a little bit of vacuum so it pulled the vapors out of the crankcase.

Ok well maybe tonight I will try to change that drain grommet, will post results.

Is the turbo oil galley leaking? Oil leaking from there will burn/vaporize agaist the hot turbine of the turbo.

Like Travis said, the valley pan groment sounds like a very likely culprit for the vapor from the valley pan.

Oh yes I am 99.9% sure thats where is coming from, I can watch it flow out of there. and yes the valley always has oil in it. It leaks down and out by the starter

Ok so today I was driving around and when I came out of a store I noticed a puddle of oil. Popped the hood and there was oil everywhere. It was coming from the valley pan. When I plugged the CDR back in everything was fine. I kinda dont see why.

Ok I am at a total, total loss as of what I should do. Last night I thought I finally beat this oil leak and everything was hunky dory all day today until this sfternoon I noticed a puddle of oil....again. I am about to quit trying to fix it, as I have tried most everything I can. Any suggestions?

Could It be the turbo?

It sure could be. You really need to try and find out exactly where the oil is coming from. Clean all the oil off of the engine/turbo that you can. That way, you should see where it is originating from.

Well see last night everything was spotless, I drove it around it didn't leak a drop. Drove it to school and on the way to work is when I noticed this same leak.

I am getting so tired of working on it, I have been trying to fix this for the last month and has consumed me. Anybody know where a good deal on a turbo is

Um ok.. I tried that Roaddraft tube and it didn't last long, because I lost about 6-7 quarts of oil in about one minute of driving. I think there something wrong with my whole pressure system. Any Ideas?

Hmm.. Well why would enough pressure to blow the oil out from somewhere, be made when I took the CDR off? When I say everywhere, I mean the whole engine, but it looked like it ran out of the valley pan and hit the fan.

i just did this rdt to my truck to day and i experimented with it before i had a new peice of hose, and the first time i just disconected the hose that came with the banks
kit at the cdr valve and put a crank case vent filter on it i drove it around for less then 30 mins and their was oil everyware! so i hooked it back up, so today i put a new peice of tube on the banks cast peice whare the ij pump cover is and ran it over the ac pump then over the coolent over flow down the wheel wel and pointed towards the ground i also pluged the cdr valve, but when its idling lots of vapors come out with hardly any oil and the truck seems to run better as well and i havent notecd any major oil loss, although whare i have the hose going over the ac pump oil seems to collect their but nothing major, so maby leaving the cdr open has an affect? hope this helps

Ok I am glad to hear that I am not the only person this has happened to. It was kinda scary seeing almost all of my oil on the pavement. Could you tell where the oil was coming out of? Thanks
