porting the exhaust... The wrong direction.. Best idea I have is bad valve seals and that carbon from burning oil coking up the port..Never have I ever seen anything that bad.

Just got off the phone with James and it sounds like oil buildup, not powdery like water but really hard. Never seen anything like that either. All other ports are clean, this engine was running last weekend

It ran at the house Sunday! And didn't sound bad at all. Pretty sure it's sound. Just a bad valve seal. Opening up after I get off work at 5 and taking a look. There wasn't any white in the chunks I got out even when I broke it up. Almost 100% that there's no water issue. Arp is outta my price range at this moment but I do have some Mahle head studs for the 7.3 idi. Thoughts? I know nothing about the strength or anything other than they are marked for 87 -94 7.3idi and still shrink wrapped and they are chrome Molly. Anyone know any info on these?

Go for it, the stock head bolts are good for 15 psi so I’d wager those would be able to hold more boost than that turbo will make
