Doesn't your driveway need some oil on it to help keep the dust down?
In which way does the timing change when the temperature increases? is it mainly because of the viscosity? Could any additive change this?
Colder fuel tends to be more advanced due to the viscosity difference
This is awesome Wes. You, justin, mel have done so much with this platform. Glad we are blessed with your presence in the idi world. The products you make and the knowledge is outstanding. Cant wait to see how these pumps turn out
I’m flattered, I’m blessed just to be able to do what I do each day and have so much support from the community, couldn’t ask for anything more.
Something seems different about this injector..
Did you whack the tip with a hammer??
Not with this kind of atomization
HHmmmmm. Looks interesting.
No more splash ignition, eh? Is this more for power or economy, or both? Does it bode well for the pre-cup design? I know you played with some low pressure bosch nozzles a while back...
That’s pretty nifty. I’ll be interested to see how they do.
I won’t know until I can get the shop truck running again and can start testing them. This is just a stock 5x.016 nozzle, I have options up to 5x.035 which would be quite a bit larger than our nozzles, and with five orfices it disperses the fuel much better than our pintle injectors. Ive replaced plenty of injectors in trucks that ran fine but sprayed at an almost 90* angle so I really don’t think the splash ignition may be as important as it seems, these heads create enough heat in the precup they don’t really seem to care. Ideally, this will have better ignition and flow, but it will have to be tested, for now just speculating.
That's pretty cool. I've always wondered if anyone has ever tried a multi hole injector in an idi.
I've also got ideas rolling around in my head about a 2 stage injector that operates like a pintle injector at low fuel volume, but at higher volume/pressures it will open more passages and spray like a multi-hole injector. Look up pintaux nozzle to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
Do you think these would be like the 3m’s? Hard on pistons and what not.
