Was it common for the gassers to have block heaters installed? Does it depend on the factory where the truck is built? I just barely noticed today that my truck has a block heater cord coming down in front of the radiator. The truck was manufactured at the Ontario plant in Canada.

It is optional on almost anything. I have one on my Focus to prove that. I think it only became almost standard on trucks shipped to cold territories. My Focus was shipped up in Mass somewhere before it would up here.

I have no clue where my truck was originally shipped. I bought it when it was 6 years old with 60,000 on it, and it could have come from anywhere. I bought it in Salt Lake City which does get fairly cold though.

Its quite possible that someone just ordered it that way. The gasser heaters only draw about half of what the diesels do though if ya feel like using it;Sweet
