I did my rockcrawlers battery under the bed, used #? Welding lead fine strand wire.
I'm not able to access it just now, but I think I used #2 ga...
Bigger the better might go 1 ga. Larger than factory for the voltage drop.
Remind me later I'll check

Our IDI pickups have 00gauge between the batteries, and from the block to the negative terminals, and 0000gauge from the passenger side positive to the starter. I wouldn't go smaller than that, and if you're relocating behind the cab, might want to go bigger.

In my ‘94 Crew Cab I moved the batteries to the frame with some custom mounts. I decided to use “H8” batteries as they are short enough to stay above the frame rail mostly. We also use this same battery in a few other cars in the old fleet.

I used cheap plastic “toolbox” as a battery cover. Large locomotive cable ( can’t recall the size atm).

This allows more room under the hood. My OCD pushed me to do it so I could get a straighter intake pipe. The air filter box (Duramax) is temporary until I can build something better/bigger.

Here’s a few pics from back then (‘24).
