Ball Joints

Today I had my yearly 2003 Diesel Excursion inspection by the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. (Christ, they even measured the diameter of the exhaust pipe). The technician said that my ball joints were starting to wear. He stated that this is typical for a Ford truck - is it? It is a 2003 with 58,564 miles. He said that next year they would have to be replaced - anyone know what that will set me back? Thanks.

Unfortunately, he is probably correct. I've heard anywhere from $700 to $1000 at your friendly Ford dealer or you can purchase a kit from on of the sponsors here and do it yourself for a whole lot less with better parts.

i had upper and lowers put on my '00. cost me 713.42 3 weeks ago. i dont know if theres a difference between leaf springs and coils or not. probably not.
