About a year ago a friend of mine called me up, "You want a free Mercedes"?
My son`s car got hit at work and had it towed home. Been sitting in front of his house, and the Insurance was dragging their feet. The City of Reno, Nv. wanted it off the street, or they would impound it.
Took a look at it, and then was working on how to get it up on my trailer, as the L/F suspension was ripped out and sitting on the ground.
Two days later he calls and said Insurance paid him off, $4000. Crap, there went my free car.
Found out where it went, to a place called Copart, a huge yard north of Reno.
Find out you can not come off the street and buy. You need to be a Broker, Dealer, Body Shop etc...
Check on line at home, find out I can get registered etc.... sign up pay a fee.
Two weeks later car comes up with a buy now of $650. Hit buy...but have to go through a Broker. Sign up with one in Portland,Or. soon as I sign up and pay his fee, I own the car. Then there is the Copart fee, and then you can`t go a pick up you car, they ship it to you...w- t- f???
Guy hauls it to our place (60 miles) on a 16ft car trailer. Free car = $1650.
Still not a bad deal.
Got an E-Mail my registration is coming up, so Iam thinking...F250....HMMM
So here is a link to all the F250`s they have listed.
This 93 not too bad and a 5-spd
