another turbo question

what turbo is in the turbo kits? which is better for a diesel wastegated or nonwastegated? is the tdo5 eclipce turbo the one in the kits? i want to put a turbo on a 89 7.3 but i cant afford a kit. i will be making my own, just wondering which turbo would be the best. the trk will be driven a lot of highway miles and i really wont haul with it much (unless im taking my bike to the race track) but it does have 4.10 gears and 37 tires. and a 5-speed.

You cant really say what turbo is better for a diesel. They both have there places. A wastegated turbo will give you less turbo lag, so down low it will spool better. But on the top end, it has more back pressure, that means more EGT's. A nonwastegated turbo will have a little more turbo lag, and more smoke off the line. But on the top end, say pulling a load up a hill, it will have in general less EGT's because it has less back pressure.
