That has to be one of the worst things ever passed. Its one thing to take them off the road but to intentionally ruin good parts from being reused is stupid. Do they really think the shortage of parts is going to take the rest of the older vehicles off the road? All it did was make some parts more expensive or harder to find. Alot of good vehicles went to the scrap yards a few years ago when metal prices got so high. People could get more at the scrap yard for a worn out vehicle than they could get to sell outright or for parts. Why not put some research into improving our older vehicles instead of expecting everyone that drives to go out and buy a brand new vehicle?

You would think at some point new vehicle sales would slow down...........but if they do then crap hits the fan and the government has to step in and help boost sales. It would be cool if we could just keep going to ford and getting new parts and keep the vehicles on the road forever unless they get wrecked or something. After all its just parts.....they should be able to be replaced, our vehicles shouldn't be disposable. I have never bought a new vehicle and never will unless I just suddenly get rich for some reason.

Yeah c4c was one of the dumbest things the govt has done in a while, I had to kill some pretty nice vehicles at work, although I did get to kill some that needed to be off of the road.

$24,000 per vehicle- that's what it cost for the cash for clunkers program. http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/28/autos/clunkers_analysis/index.htm

I heard a Volvo on you tube that had the oil drained and the silica administered - what a shame, what a waste. That Volvo is better than the car I drive.
For somebody like me, who's spent a lifetime trying to keep old stuff running, it's really painful and disgusting to see good running vehicles intentionally ruined.

It's like witnessing a crime.

I wasn't aware the IDI's qualified for one of Americas biggest mistake programs.:dunno

Thanks to the C4C program, I now can buy new parts cheaper than used parts around this area.:***:

Maybe we need to start flagging every C4C posted youtube video as inappropriate.;Really

Why do you think it was labeled as a 5.0? LOL. I didn't think diesels or anything bigger than a 1/2 ton qualified, but I can't find any info to back it up.

Kinda a BS rap for these things to be labeled as "clunkers". My truck gets better mileage than some of the newer rigs!!

I guarentee your truck gets better mileage than any stock 6.4, cause I know mine does. the mileage that those trucks get is sad.

Easier to cull millions into buying new (makes more money buying a new car than fixing and old)

I hate the C4C program, its only real purpose was to stimulate car sales under false pretenses of putting nicer cleaner cars on the street-cuss.

That idi was real straight and clean looking too ...
