So I have had this phantom intermittent starting problem, start, die, air in fuel symptom. Turn on electric pump and it is fine. Discovered fuel mileage going to hell and the frame is getting lubed,, so without further suspense, always remember to tighten the fuel filter up more than just snug.
Did you know these engines vibrate enough to loosen the filter.

Whooda thunk??
Yeah I am supposed to be a mechanic, must have come up on a dead brain cell that moment.

....We all do it...One of the older mechanic's at work was having fun bragging about how many brake jobs he'd done while I was still in diapers ( he has about 15yrs on me in the trade) He asked me to help him lift the hub and drum on to the spindle of a rear axle under a larger wrecker body....I told him I would help him but I asked him "what is missing from this picture?".....He started puffing and blowing "Boy I've done more" until he realized he hadn't put the brake shoes on.....
....I don't let him forget it either....
