Hey, I’m a bit new to the IDI space and recently I have been getting air into the fuel system and it always seems to be in the fuel filter by the bleeder valve, I’ve found that the metal fuel lines were a bit lose, so I tightened them and it hasn’t gone away, I did change the diesel filter about 7k miles ago and it started around that time, could my diesel filter gasket caused this? Or am I looking at another issue earlier in the system?

hi, its either a small leak (cracked tube or whatever), also make sure that the metal lines copper gaskets are good and the surfaces are smooth.

also likely, if you are using a rotary pump (like bosch), then this pump can suck with a huge amount of pressure. meaning that if theres a clog somewhere, it will draw a massive vacuum which will force air to in the tubes.

pick a see through tube section, and run it at various parts of your setup, and see where the bubbles are showing up, and where they are not.
probably close to your fueltank they are not there, and at your fuel pump they are there. somewhere in the middle they are formed, so experiment until you find that point.
there should be a part where the bubbles are caused, and probably your leak / clog is there

Hello, here is a try to help you. the Schraeder valve at the filter head is made to be bleed while running. The fuel filter is the high point in the fuel system, air in the system will collect there. no copper washers under steel lines, they are crush washers that are under injectors. there are square cut rubber type seals on the steel lines in the fuel system, they are called olives, 2 different sizes. search function on forum is your friend. search for air intrusion. i am looking for a fuel system diagram to send you. i will try to help you more if you need , just ask

What are your symptoms exactly? Once you get it started, it's ok the rest of the day? Does it have to sit for a period of time? What does it do? Never hit a lick? Starts and then stops? Then will finally start after a lot of cranking?

Does it do it overnight or does it take a coupe of days?

Or does it run but you just have surging?
