Hello everyone. A simple transmission problem three months ago turned into this, not quite sure how that happened but when it is all said and done, it will definitely be worth it. Just wanted to share some pics. Went right down to the frame, had to replace the rear cab crossmember. Everything was cleaned down to bare metal The best I could with sanders and grinders, the only thing that would have gotten it better would have been sandblasting and that unfortunately was just not feasible at the time. POR 15 metal prep primer, and two coats of POR 15. Reinstalled drivetrain, but with my built turbo 69 as opposed to the factory 7.3 NA. Just sat on the rust free cab from down south and unfortunately, I had to tear the dash out to flip-flop wiring harnesses because it was a gasoline engine.

That’s all for now, I will post more pictures when I have some time. these are just the highlights.

That was the super crash course up until now. With only being able to post so many pictures at one time, I can’t really get in depth with every little step, but believe me this is nothing anyone should ever get into with a timeline. When it’s done, it’s done, and not a moment before. Time consuming black hole.

I’d highly recommend you don’t use any old wire harness. Just make a new harness. It’s sooo much better. I’ve framed off hundreds of older trucks from the 40s - 90s. Especially with a diesel it’s super simple. With how deep into it you are and all the extra time you are putting into it you would not want to have it burn down because of junky wiring.

I would at least inspect it. I reused the harness in mine, my dads truck, his prior truck that he sold, and a friends bronco conversion with good results. Just change out the notoriously bad parts, like the headlight switch connector. The important part is to make sure the harnesses are secure and have anti chafing wraps and looms on them.

Whileiminthereitus!? I knew there was a name for it! What a wretched condition to be afflicted with! I would not wish it on my own worst enemy. Seriously that is the best comment ever.

It is already starting to come back around honestly . I have a few buddies that have gone from laughing and making jokes to turning green with envy. Quite a few are patching frames, upside down replacing cab mounts, and pulling engines without taking the whole front clip off. I did not want to deal with anymore.
