FWIW, the after-market cable on our 6.9 broke a week ago. We were able to find one at the local pick-n-pull (can't beat the price, as it was FREE), and lay them side by side. OEM is a noticeably heavier inner cable and housing. Much smoother operating throttle, as well. The after-market was a Dorman. OEM is definitely a better piece.

It has been about 5 years ago now, but I replaced the napa part 5 times in a year, till I scrounged up a good 20 year old original. no problems after that.

Dorman is not so good, but thier replacement pulleys are really heavy and nice. PS for example.. Im going to look at the new napa cable quality and see if it has changed. Dorman makes /packages for many AP stores.
