I’ve been waiting on parts, and they started arriving today. The first is around my performance fueling I put together. Here’s what I’ve learned so far. Originally I sumped the rear tank, and ran both the supply and return to the rear sump. I put together I single return system that included a bypass regulator. I used a holly ~5psi - 65psi regulator I had.
learnings:
1. I am returning a lot of fuel compared to what was being used
2. I couldn’t return fuel fast enough both raising the inlet psi and return system psi
3. This affected my pump transfer pressure, hydraulic advance curve, and seems like maybe was preventing the plungers from having full stroke
4. The diaphragm on the efi regulator isn’t that strong for low psi regulation cause they figure people are probably using it for.. EFI
5. Having the return and supply both on the sump without a return tube aerated the fuel and caused inconsistent supply side flow
Changes so far:
1. I now am running a dedicated regulator return down the passenger frame rail As well as a dedicated injector and IP return down the driver side
2. Ordered a new carb style regulator for lower psi and hopefully stronger diaphram
3. I Y’d the returns and moved them to the top of the tank
Future changes that may be needed:
1. In theory you want your return size to be equal to your supply side size so I might be switching out my regulator return setup for 3/8 pending the results of the current changes
