Any idea what my vehicle weight might be on a stock 1988 F350 with the 7.3...We are getting ticketed by smokeys up here for not being in the right weight classifications which our tags are rated for...I'm good up to 16,000 right now but I haul alot of trailers and i think im going to be over on some...

I had my truck weighed and it weighed 6120 with me and my step father in the truck, so 5670 is closer after subtracting out weight cause he weighs 260 and i weigh 190

IIRC without a CDL you're limited to 10k trailer weight (loaded) regardless of the tow vehicle's weight, that said the truck itself should be under 6500 lbs so at 16k total registered weight you should be fairly safe, if you have extra fuel tanks in the truck tho (or you actually load up the bed too while pulling the trailer) and you wanna max out the trailer within the non-CDL limits you may wanna up the combined registration to 17k or even 18k.

A standard cab truck is usually going to always be in the low to mid 6's. Figure, it's an 8600 GVRW with a 1500 pound payload capacity, so that puts the tare around 7100 max.

I weighed my SuperCab 1988 F-250 Dually 7.3, banks Turbo C-6 with GV
It came out to 5,980lbs on the scale with 5 gallons of diesel in it

ok thanks, i was figuring somewhere in the 6k range...There is an industrial seed scale for big seed trucks about 15 miles away that im gonna see if I can get into...I'm in idaho and they have a law here that if you're over your weight class limit you get fined a dollar for every lb over so I wanted to be sure

I had my 92 F350 C&C 4x4 weighed the other day, 7738lbs empty with me in it. So I can legally haul almost 3 tons if I had a F350 door tag but the original builder of my truck when new "made and installed" a new tag with F450 weight ratings.:D....3 ton in the back and it drives like a dream....Now my plates are a different story - I'm only legal to 11,000lbs gross with my regular plates, yellow plates would let me register it to it's limit.

yeah the front and rear bumpers are 1/4" plate, along with 1 1/4 tube for the wrap around...I'll put up a picture here soon of a custom 16" drop hitch I had to make to pull my calf trailer with. I call her "big bertha"
