088 Down Pipe Problems

How the heck is a guy supposed to get that thing to stay in the housing? Mine slips pretty much all the way in but if you bump it at all it falls right out. There is a small bracket/ hole for a mount welded to the pipe but I don't have a clue what they used to bolt it to.
I need ideas please.

Looks like it bolts to a small bracket and then to the up-pipe flange.

My mech bolted it to a bolt on the C6, but it vibrated like the devil. When I did the 4 speed swap, he spot welded it to the T18 :/ not sure how I feel about that solution...

Hope his other work is better then that. All you have to do is spot wield a steel strap to the pipe and then tie it with a bracket or heavy spring to one of the connection pipe flanges. The spring is nice because it eliminates the risk of metal fatigue from vibrations.

looks to Me like theres a bracket (#43) from the down pipe to the 'Y' collector casting (#3)

If you bought the downpipe with the *bracket* , the bracket is the little metal piece with the half twist , but it still won't reach anything with the 088 kit . If you look in the picture you can see what I did, I used a piece of flat bar and bent a 90 deg and drilled two holes and lined those up with the * bracket*
If you got one that slides in you will need a tube of exhaust assembly paste to keep it from leaking at least you didn't have to spend a few hours grinding yours to get it to go in.

It bolts to the Y pipe collector. If tightened while you push up on the pipe it stays perfectly tight with no problems.

Really simple to remove as well if you ever need to pull the downpipe to swap transmissions.
