Ok. Got the front side tank pulled today, was not really as bad of a job as I thought. It still had about five gallons in it but I pulled the filler loose from the bed and luckily it had enough slack to reach the ground . Lines were a little hard to get disconnected, but some on blaster and working them around a bit got them broke loose for the tool. When I got the tank out and removed the severely rusted pickup tube assembly, I could not believe the amount said rust and debris in the tank. I now have a new pickup assembly on order before I can put the tank back on see.
If that speck represents the amount of rust in your tank........you're right.....that IS unbelievable......

Yesterday, I offloaded the camper, and drove with a tow dolly from Portland to Ocean Shore WA to look at a car with a buddy... Unfortunately no title, no sale.... So theres a 5 hour round trip for no real reason ... Put the camper back on this morning lol

I drove the white truck on it's maiden voyage that was supposed to be down to the mailboxes (baby steps). Blew a fuse about 2 doors down, So I made it up the hill, turns stops, goes, but only for a couple hundred yards. I had 30 amp from alt to battery (too small). I had blow it before, so I had a couple spares stashed under the hood. New fuse, fired up, backed it back down to our house. After doing some research, I found I probably need a 70amp fuse, and some thicker wire. I'm gonna call it a win. Sounds like the used truck I bought to get the ZF out of it, was worth every penny of the 400 I paid for it, but the ZF has a front bearing noise. But I've seen manuals with front bearing noise run a long time without failing. It's a great day!

Is it front bearing noise? Of the rollover noise the diesel makes a ZF5 do?

That makes me so angry. I was helping my brother buy a car and even when we asked before heading out "do you have a clean title in hand?" The amount of people that had no title, or a title already filled out to someone else (not clean!) or a salvage title (not clean!) which in NJ means it's trash, we can't insure rebuilt or salvage here.

I think it's front bearing. In neutral - quiet with foot on the clutch, hear the gear noise when you let the clutch out. I'm expecting to hear it when driving in 1,2,3 and have it go away in 4th and 5th, but didn't really get a chance to hear it while driving. Not familiar with rollover noise so I suppose it could be that. I've heard of it and normal when DMF is swapped, and I do have SMF - so there's that.

I bet your hearing the gear roll over noise. It's more of a low speed 1,2,3 thing....... itll sound like its coming apart sometimes. Just make sure to only use a high quality ATF in that ZF5..... don't use gear oil whatever you do..... or you WILL start hearing bad bearing noise.....and everything else too!...

I'm amazed at the number of vehicles that I've seen in the last couple of years listed for sale with no title. What's happening to all of the titles?
I've noticed it too. If the title is at least in their name, in Oregon it is super easy to fill out the title replacement form, bill of sale, and title transfer form all in one go and DMV accepts it no problem. Title jumping also is legal here, so long as the paper trail is good I wouldn't mind it either. But no title at all, no sale, period.
What is really cruddy is we confirmed with the guy several times he had the title, only to get there and... Couldn't find it.

Probably a good thing too, supposedly died in flight, and he towed it home. It was a wiring issue, but no oil on the dipstick either which was also concerning

It’s a sad day but nowadays if I’m going to make a trip to look at something, I’m asking for a pic of the title and a corresponding vin, in the same pic. If they want to cover a name or address that’s fine, but if you can’t find it and confirm you have a straight title beforehand, it’s an open invitation to wasting time. There are some good people out there, but there’s a lot of shitbirds too.
