Climate control not working well

The climate control in my 05 is not getting very warm, I've replaced the blend door actuator and when I did that I checked the action of the blend door itself witch seems to be fine. It does seem to react to opening a window or changing the desired temp but even set at 90* it might get to 67-8* at best.
For reference the engine has had the headgaskets done and been studded and the coolant is full.

What is the ambient temperature? Has the truck had an EGR Delete?

My 03 with the EGR Delete if it's below 20 F, the engine doesn't come up to normal temperature even after a 30 mile drive. Nothing wrong with my truck, just the amount of heat not being put in the cooling system by the EGR makes it not heat up very quickly. I know mine was the EGR Delete since my delete was done in the middle of winter. It was just a cold (ambient temperature) before and after the delete. Before it went in the shop, it would get to normal operating temperature, no matter the ambient temperature. When it cam out of the shop, if it's in the teens or below, it just doesn't warm up.

It gets up to 180ish and the ambient temperature is in the 40s, EGR went away long ago, EBPV works well so it warms up quick and holds its temperature

Why don't the 6.0's ever really heat up to operating temp without EGR and with it takes them forever? I know Diesels are cold blooded but still. Mines takes 10 minutes at 1200 RPM to get damn close and even then T-stat isn't open....

Diesels don't generate much power at idle or high idle. You need to put it to work to get it HOT.

Plugged heater core. Just repleaced the one in my brother in laws truck last weekend. For the ease of changing them, not worth flushing them out. They fill up with casting media just like the oil coolers do. Flushing is just a bandaid imho.

Ford designed the cooling system with the EGR. The EGR puts a TON of heat in the cooling system even during normal, unloaded running around town. So that had to be taken into account with the cooling system. I know on mine, before the EGR Delete, if I really got on it on an on-ramp you could feel the air temperature increase when I had the hammer down.

Now, remove all that exhaust heat, and the cooling system has the upper hand, now that it has much more cooling capacity than a deleted 6.0 can produce. I know with mine. I work ~30 miles from home. I park in a parking garage, that is open-air and the same temperature outside. If its in the teens, I can start the truck, drive home on the interstate and county roads (50-70+ MPH). I can stop at the gas station near my house, leave it idle and lock the truck. When I come back out ~5 minutes later, it will be on high idle, since the coolant is not at normal temperature. Now, if it's in the 20's or higher, it's not so bad.

It's not just with the 6.0. A coworker has a Duramax, and it's been deleted also. He made a comment last week when it was near 0, it was warmer in the truck than outside, but it was no where near "room temperature" warm.

Maybe you worded that wrong. But I wouldn't say takes forever with the egr.
To further what was said above, even the TDI jettas have the issue with losing heat after a get delete. Many recommend keeping the egr, even if you delete the rest of the epa nonsense.

I wonder if y’all could get away with pulling your fan off, if you can’t keep any heat in the cooling system then you shouldn’t need it

There's another point. Could be a sticking fan clutch.
Aren't the 6.0 a electric clutch? Or did that start in a certain year? Could likely adjust the temp for it to come on....
But yeah, I drove my 7.3 without a fan for awhile. If you're not gonna do any towing, really could remove it for awhile. Or do the ole cardboard trick. Lol

They are electric. I've never herd mine engage. From what I'm told, when it does, you are fairly certain its going to suck the grille through the radiator. Also, more than likely, if something was wrong with the fan, it would throw a code.

We can't take it off either, if the computer doesn't sense the fan (like a broken wire) the PCM will not allow the engine to start. I know there must be a program to fool it, because one of the mods done is to remove the electric clutch and install a 7.3PSD clutch......

Okay, that's what I thought. And yeah, I recall that mod.
Had a buddy with a Duramax or cumminGs. (Can't remember which one, he had both from one of those install a lift, big tires, tint the windows, charge 3 times what it's worth car lots)
But I remember it had a code for the fan. Turns out the harness was wrapped around the fan. Lol
Did a quick search, didn't see anything about a fooler. Says it'll set a soft code, but that's it.
