Thump like sound, yes I've searched and nothing

should be able to isolate cylinder by touching intake runners while it is thumping.....or a stethoscope on runners.

I have seen this noise caused by valves not properly fitted/lapped......like someone just sticking a valve in to replace a bent one.
I would figure out which cylinder and get that valve cover off NOW, could be something stupid like a broken spring.....and that could get ugly real quick if you keep "winding it out" to make it go away.

When you increase the engine rpm to illiminate the noise what you are doing is increasing the oil pressure. Might not be a good idea to "rev it up"... I understand reving up the engine makes the noise go away but at what cost... As posted already. Time to find out what cylinder is causing the noise and go from there. If you can't figure it out take it to a reputable mechanic and have them tell you whats wrong. No matter what you choose to do.. Seems from your responses this noise is getting worse but if you rev it up the noise goes away for a time.. but it comes back worse.

Any recurring fuel leaks at one particular fuel return cap?

Stuck injector with have a similar "tick" noise I that heard in your video. The tick will go away with increased RPM and return with low RPM/idle.

Lots of possible sources. Gotta narrow it down.

A single valve.
Was replaced..which 1 amd why should be first and formost! IMHO

He said it was a reman engine...heads came off and a single valve was replaced.....why...which one...this could be and is in all likelyhood a root issue to the problem...best guess of course....

Not saying it isnt a stuck injector or a cracked flex plate...just saying that this is kinda what evidence has been presented...could be circumstantial however till a full investigation is done it wont be k kwn.

Check the eazy stuff first...eliminate the easy stuff...pulling a head ..not so easy

Appreciate the responses, leaving work early today and will see what is going on with what knowledge I have gained, first I'll take top of intake off and listen and narrow down sides. I'll check injectors next if I can't find it. From there I'll pop valve covers off for inspection if all else fails. Might be building an engine sooner then I thought

One had valve damage so he replaced that head with a rebuilt one.

Here is a video of me diagnosing, this shows the gradualness. I noticed it's after longer periods of idling and long periods at a constant throttle(I.e. I go to work 13 miles highway one way and when I come to a stop it starts again). You can hear everything I hear, I used HD video as well. You hear a slight huff sound about 30-40sec in and then gradual into the sound I am used to hearing.

When I cracked the injectors I didn't notice much change, is it pretty obvious when an injector is bad and you crack it open?

Video with a cold engine, sounds like it's running about 900+ RPM. Sounds like one whole bank has a problem. Maybe the head that was changed.
Warm up the engine and then slow down the Idle as slow as possible so it don't stall. Then make another Video for about a minute and a half.
If you can plug in the block heater for an hour or two, that would speed up the process to get engine up to operating temp.

Lots of suggestions, but you have to work on one thing at a time. Elimination is the key to finding problems.

Edit: the huff or puff starts in at about 35 seconds on the Video. That's strange.
