Track Bar/ Pan Hard Bar Bushings

Quick question:

In the process of changing my front spring bushings on my Dana 60 and putting in Energy Suspension poly ones, I pulled and inspected my track bar as well. I put MOOG poly bushings in it 2013, and to my surprise they were loose fitting (fell out of the track bar upon removal). Not only the bushings themselves, but in the track bar hole as well.

I went ahead and ordered a new track bar thinking my holes may be a little worn out so I'll start new.

Soooo, this new bar will undoubtedly come with rubber bushings. Would you immediately punch out those rubber bushings and put Energy Suspension Poly bushings in, or just run the new rubbers?

It is a pretty easy piece to remove, but still a 30-45 minute process start to finish after pressing out and in new bushings.

I would, just so you don't have to do it again when the rubber wears out.

i would use what they send.
unless youre entirely against the rubber.
keep the polys as a back up.

New bushings fit real tight in old bar! New one looks decent too.

But the old one does have this torch scar....

I put energy suspension bushings in mine. They seem to fit good.

New bar and rubber bushings installed. Seems nice and tight. I also replaced the front spring bushings with Energy poly so the front is in good shape now.

Depending how much I use my truck those poly bushings get replaced every year or two. I have been looking for an oem style rubber bushing with no luck.

I have never had good luck with poly track bar bushings...other than they are easy to replace.

Do you do a lot of rough terrain?
I put a poly in mine, can't say I've had issues with it, but I also have the factory steering stabilizer (which is probably beyond worn out), but I haven't checked the bushings again either.

I would thing that hard ass rod ends might be tough on everything. The slight give from the rubber or poly might give you less vibration / road rumble. I hear you on the longevity of the rod ends though but I think it will be HARSH.

The specs (Shore) for the poly (probably UHMW) and Delrin are pretty close so I don't think there will be much difference. UHMW is better for impact, wear and energy absorption... Delrin is downright fun to machine though. I guess if I had both in stock my vote would be for UHMW.

Definitely not rod ends though... got enough good vibrations already!

Most of the offroad websites offer a "mixed" track bar. Heim joint on one end and a heavy bushing on the other for vibration dampening. Check out the Ballistic Fabrication poly bushing. They had them in weldable and forged/threaded versions.
