You didn't permanently install the trans tunnel cover, did you? If it's in place it will make it a bear to get the ZF in there. Pulling the shifter stub out of its tower helps a lot, but personally I still like to have as much work space as possible there. Especially for the two to transfer case bolts, super easy access to them thru a giant open hole in the cab floor :D

Nope this is all prep work....for the swap day. Instead of having to do all the piddly **** pedals, clutch MC and slave etc , I will install all conversion parts except the trans and tcas and the trans x member...those are for THE HEAVY DAY. Then truck is only down for few hours.

Kinda like my 2 day blitz for D60 swap...had the 60 ready to go in...

The same will be done with 4.10 rear axle to match...heck may even do it right after trans if all together...two day blitz again...but that level of intensity for work takes me out for 3 to 4 days....

Still thinking OBS clip too...not like I dont have shitload parts here... @Can30Diesel

In preparation for the firewall reinforcement plate I sandblasted and repainted it.

I also removed windshield trim from truck and cleaned out around window. I also cut back excess butyl from windshield install. This will ease the process of cutting out the glass and cleaning and pai ting window frame. It was raining at my daughters wedding and the upper portion of windshield leaked. Thus I ordered glass and Eugene will get me to sand a car for pai t prep to pay for it. 73 bucks labour traded.

Now with this removal of cowel cover for install of firewall plate will be much simpler.

I am quite excited and the swap of pedals n such should be done tomorrow if all goes well.

Bleed brakes and re-adjust rears and I will be set to tow woo hoo.

Well nuff for today and tonight.

Np, this is what happens when you mix up parts from different model years. The line on the left is the '88-down setup, the one on the right is the '89-up setup with that stupid teflon o-ring that you can only use once and that's if you're lucky to not tear it while stretching it to size. It's got nothing to do with hydro vs. vacuum boost, we got a '91 hydro hose on the shelf that looks exactly like the right one in the pics, down to the boogered-up teflon piece.

The point of my statement was to ensure you grab EVERYTHING when getting parts from a wrecker or used setup for this reason...sorcjng fittings can be a pitta but if u get it all for a conversion yer GOLDEN.

TRY PLACING TEFLON O RING IN BOILING WATER BEFORE INSTALLING

Chose to remove a craptastic long round muffler from truck...essentially rotted in half out amd stick in a 3" flowmqster.

Suppose could hqve straight piped it but up here johnny law ans CVSE tend to do surprise inspections and want mufflers.....yet harleys go pipes only.....go figure?

Anyway install went well. No hickups and sounds fine. Exhaust brake valve is open so once done swapping mqjor parts I can focus on that thing.

One concern that freakin cropped into my head is....will the down/up pipes clear a zf compared to c6. I hqve no idea but seejng as I hqve an empty zf front half case its going with me to see if I can make this work. I will also swap a different Y pipe in if feasable at same time.

Tomorrow I tow a ex cab 1/2 ton chebby to q body shop so shoukd be fun.

Well nuff fer now gotta start rounding up parts for 5sp swap.

Thanks for looking.

Towed my kids truck early 80's chev 1/2 ton 2wd ex cab from Penticton to Keremeos today on a car dolley..LOL worked ok on flats and a pig on hills man I hate automatic transmissions again especially 3sp.

Fell flat on it's face uphill which was sad...tired engine and 3sp auto with 3.55 gears yeeesh.

Well other than the uphill issue the truck was fine. In town and on flats things were great.

Downhill and hydroboost was great never a concern with being able to slow down.

Well I knkw for sure I am going back to 4.10's and 5sp.

Need a real temp guage and oil pressure.

Boost was 4 lbs and 950 to 1000 on pyro.

With new exhaust I see no coal to speak of and pyro not showing a problem with fuel so I think I may turn up fuel a couple of flats. I will wait to turn up fuel until I change Y/up pipe as its full of holes and cracks so I would rather fix that observe boost and pyro then add fuel.

Must finish bumler too as hit a deer last night and it was swept under RH side made 3 bumps one from bumper two from front n back axle...just kept on going.

Well thats it for now.

Well crap...of course AFTER I install my D60 front with 4.10's some ******** locally posts an 85 HP KP D60 with 3.54's....$500.00 perfect match for my rear diff....doh!

Hope I can work a trade deal out...be nice to NOT have to swap a rear diff too.

Been boosting a few vehicles and tractors of late so decided to install a T handle twist lock throttle.

I installed cab portion..but I need to aquire some small ball chain or some other type of small chain to which I can connect to the throttle lever on IP and fab a small bracket to retain the cable housing.

Tired of sitting foot to throttle to boost folks etc....

Pinky points to T handle throttle and thumb to Tekonsha Voyager electric brake controller.

Figure that throttle will be good for VMAC air compressor and if I get one an engine driven hyd pump

Also thinking may make custom pod for guages across top of dash...hmm...light fiberglass pod paintable to match any bricknose dash.

Well it wasnt to exciting an ipdate but it is what it is.

Frig......just got a telephone call....3.54 D60 gear set will be here on Sunday to swap for one of my 4.10s

This will be easier than swapping a omplete rear diff thats for sure...just swap a gear set in and voila!

So for winter 3.54s and a ZF wow should be decent mikage now.
