firewall clearance...

So I'm trying to put my down pipe on and it ain't happening... what did y'all do to get it to work? I cut the pinch weld and folded it up but looks like I need to beat the firewall back...

Usually thats all you need to do. Maybe your motor mounts are sagging and should be replaced. Pushing the firewall back is not an easy job but it has been done just the same. Leverage is your friend. Cutting and welding from inside the cab is possible but its lots of work doing it that way. You never can have too much room for the down pipe either so move the firewall what you want. I feel a 1/2 inch of clearance will be fine if you can get it.

Actually this is probably your reasons for a tight fit more so than the motor mounts. You could do a body lift if the cab mounts are shot. Your going to be cutting them out anyway because of the salt issues. In for a penny. In for a pound...

Well last night i looked at the cab mounts and they looked good but who knows... i will check on getting new ones. They did look dry...

Got a 92 4x4 with 240k + on it. If any cab mounts should be bad, it'd be the ones on my truck.

Just installed a turbo a month ago. I had a little Porta-power hydraulic cylinder that actually fit between the tranny and the cab. Worked great.

Bring it up to Central KS and I'll do it for a nominal fee.

It's hard to tell by looking. They don't always crack and split...the rubber compresses over time and lowers the clearance between the cab and the frame. Check your body lines where the cab meets the bed. Are they lined up perfectly? My bet is the cab is low by 1/2" or more.

My truck was in great shape with less than 100k on it, but sagged almost 3/4" I installed some polyurethane mounts and the cab and bed line up nicely now, and plenty of room for the down pipe and to get the transmission in/out (which I've had to do more than I care to admit...)

Get energy suspension mounts, My buddy Dans looked good and the new ones were almost 3/4 inch taller.
