This is probably nothing new for most of you guys, but might help someone. Some of these tips I use at work, and some are just learning the hard way type stuff.

screw head stripped out? get some valve grinding compound or loctite clover. Put a bit on the end of a speed handle so you can give it some serious oomph and there you go no need to drill and easy out 90% of the time

the scotchbrite pads I use at work to remove corrosion from aluminum structure will take off material as mentioned earlier. Often .020 or .010 if you leave the deep pits and chemically treat them, i would never use these on any kind of gasket surface

Whenever you are in a situation where a nut is tough to reach to thread onto something and its has washers involved, superglue is your friend

Any time you are tightening a v band clamp throw some boy butter (vaseline) on the interior of the clamp. this will make the clamp actually tighten evenly and not dig into the pipes it is attaching at all, as well as eliminate you having to torque it slightly, tap it for alignment, and torque it again.

Buy a set of flush cut diagonal cutters (or grind a cheapo to a flush cut) and use that to cut the excess off of zip ties. Your arm that gets raked accross it will thank you later, and so will the soft tube it may or may not end up rubbing against.

ATF + Acetone outperforms any kind of kroil, pb blaster, liquid wrench, wd 40, etc.

if you down own knipex pliers wrenches, buy some. Dont worry about the high price they are worth it.

Buy craftsman mirrors! Some snapon dealers will not warranty yours even if its a manufacturing defect, but they will try to sell you another one for another 45 bones!

Red RTV can withstand VERY high temperatures, can fix exhaust leaks around clamps and last years. I bought my truck a year and a half ago and it had a exhaust leak on one of the pipes, red RTV and havent dealt with it again yet

Milk of magnesia is an AWESOME anti sieze for some high temp situations!!

running out of ideas... every time in my life I have bought krylon paint it has pissed me off. Buy something else. dupli color products always impress

Sorry if this offends anyone but OIL FREE COMPRESSORS SUCK. Get yourself an oiled unit!!!

As far as air tools go Ingersol Rand is the best blend of quality and price I have yet found. If you are looking for the best, souix has never failed to impress me.

Personally, since I abuse my home tools, I love me some harbor freight multimeters for troubleshooting. Loose them, throw them at people who **** you off, who cares, they go on sale for under 2 bones. I buy like 4 at a time, then in a few years when they are all dead, I return for some more.

Dont buy harbor freight drill bits if you need precision! May be ok for wood, but certainly destroy aluminum projects.

Buy the longest and heaviest gauge jumper cables you can! Will appreciate it when you cant get face to face with the vehicle your jumping

The new Milwaukee super sawzalls that have the keyless blade holder are the worst. Blades fly out nonstop, tried 2 different units, cheapo blades, milwalkee blades, makes no damn difference. Maybe the other manufacturers do it better, but Milwaukee sure doesnt.

I have never been impressed with the performance of a snap on cordless tool, or any truck brand cordless tool for that matter. Stick with the brands that do it for a living (Milwaukee, mikita, dewalt, bosch, etc)

And if your going through a tech school currently and get a 50% discount with snapon, BUY EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU WILL EVER NEED!! Hold off on lifting your truck and buying your GF a ring. I spend about 3 grand at half price in school and havent had to pay the snap on man since. Most people I work with go out every week to make a payment to the devil and I just laugh.

Like I said, probably nothing new, but could help someone out at least.

this is an almost a must with dual piston calipers... swap out those channel locks for a pair of 11R vice grips and its nice and easy on your hands :)
