What the heck happened warhog??? Glad you are okay. I think that truck is cursed lol. Hate to say it but it has given you one hell of a ride up to this point.
Oh i know! I went inside after starting it up and was getting the dogs food ready and here BOOOMMM. I knew what happened. It dented the rear drop bumper but nothing major, that's what bumpers are for. I think it just jarred that bulb which was on it's last life. Might as well replace both sides.
Also, I know nothing about my rear brakes or the parking brake. My plan is to have a shop down the road do it, they work on these idi's daily so i trust them. But....am I better off piecing together everything for the stock setup, or is there some sort of upgrade, or different style park brake? I heard someone mention something on here once before....and no, i'm not too interested in converting to disc just yet. The cables fine, it actually worked great for a while, it just doesn't barely holds anymore in any position of the park pedal.

hydro - hahaha I think it is too! I laughed this one off, wasn't too worried. It ran over two trees about the width of a water bottle, and I didn't even attempt to drive it out right away. Fired up the chainsaw at 6am for the first time this season and cut em up and drove out. There's a tree dead center in my driveway that I expected it to hit, but it steered clear of that one lol

remember parking brakes dont hold as well downhill when your pointed up.. notice you can back up with the e-brake on but when you try and move forward your stopped.

probably all you need to do is adjust the shoes.
Jack up the rear, pull the tire off and screw the adjuster tighter. one side is left hand threaded dont remember which. If the teeth look worn its cheep to replace. tighten the shoes until they drag when you spin the tire, then back off one click. If done right, the parking brake should take about 3-4 clicks to set.
replacing the cables is pretty straight forward too. either way make sure all the clips and such are in place.
Whatever you do, always do one side at a time. that way if you find yourself with extra parts, you can use the other side for reference.

true that. Where I park is generally flat, haven't had a problem before. I think I just had it's ass out a little further than I usually park and that's probably what happened...between being a little further on the decline and the parking brake not holdng as well in reverse like you said. Whenever i'm parked I always throw it in reverse, but obviously can't do that when i'm warming it up and not inside the truck. Last time the brakes were checked was when the engine was installed and they said the shoes are pretty worn. I'll probably just buy new drums shoes etc. Might as well, I have a trailer to tow 4 hours so it's smarter to make sure it's right. If time allows, i'll consider hydroboost hmmmmmmm

haha, I checked local scrap yards, there's a 90 f-450 SD about an hour away from me. It might be easier to just to buy everything new, no? ebay didn't net me any help except for an f700 hydro lol. I'm moving on the 25th or 24th something like that, so I don't want to risk the truck being down too long. Might just freshen everything up and wait til after the move, when I have a fancy workshop I can park in.

As posted..Gald nobody got hurt.. Children playing in front of any running car or truck scares me but good. Parents just do not think sometimes. Ever see children run thru parking lots and parents doing nothing about it.. Or the little ones are so far from the idiot parents they couldn't help them if they wanted too. Adjusting up the rears is the best way to fix them. If the parking brake peddle sets near the floor the rear shoes are way out of adjustment. That peddle needs to set in the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the travel. When you have that your going to feel al your brakes working once again.. The self adjusters in the rears really do not function as designed.. Ever.. At least I have never read a posting telling me how great their brakes work out back...

Glad you were clear of that rolling beast, warhog. Learned the value of wheel chocks a couple of years ago.... but that's another story. 
Yeah, need to check my parking brake as well. PB ratchet pedal goes to the floor.... and I should check those rear shoes, too. I've heard D70s are a PITA to do, and I had enough trouble with my old F250's Sterling 10.25 brakes.

Adjust them up.... and carry a pair of chocks for good measure 
Sometimes even with adjusters that work, you have to park in places that make you REAL uncomfortable
I carry a whole rack of chocks tucked up between my bed tank and headache rack just in case I have to park a trailer someplace squirrily.

One suggestion I can make...
Always apply main brakes, hold pedal down, then and only then depress the parking brake, this sets the shoes and then helps lock them.
The hydraulics have more force to hold shoes out and the mechanical brake then locks...
