my current setup with the banks turbo install is to run from the front crank case to a CDR on the banks intake box. It was suggested to me that I should swap out the driver's side valve cover with an ATS valve cover that has a connection for the CDR(so I can get rid of the big box).

But it sounds like this will not remove the pressure in the crankcase? Anyone running the ATS valve cover with experience?

I think this weekend i am going to redo the road draft tube, and either route it into my intake again or into the exhaust. My question is do i need to reuse the the oil accumulator that came with the banks kit or just weld in a tube and run a hose from the crankcase neck into the intake

After reading through this thread, I have a few questions. I have a turbo going into a intercooler and noticed my intercooler pipes are oily inside. When I took them off to change my rad, there was alot of oil and I don't think it was coming from the turbo. As you can see in my pic, My CDR feeds right into the intake. Could this be the cause for oil in my intercooler pipes? Should I switch to a RDT?

Yeah, the oil came from the crank case vent. And Yeah, a RDT will eliminate it.
He's most likely correct...however, there is also the slim possibility that the turbo oil seals are on their way out and pumping oil into the intake side. I would double-check the shaft and make sure that there's no obvious oil leaking from it and make sure there isn't any noticeable shaft play...but, again, that's just to be on the safe side; most likely it's just the crankcase gases leaving the oil in the IC...

Yeah, The Warden brings up an excellent point. Can Not be to dilegent. With the cost of these turbo kits...

Turbo was just rebuilt. Thanks, I guess a RDT is coming....
Still can't hurt to double-check. I don't know who rebuilt the turbo, but if it literally was JUST rebuilt, there's always the possibility of a mistake having been made (no offense intended to the person who did the rebuild, but can't be too safe IMHO)...

BTW, the only reason why I'm running an RDT is that I don't want the intake manifold (and intercooler, when I get it installed) getting coated with oil...

crazy thing is last night i started tearing into the turbo truck (lolz just checking the air filter) and noticed it was CAKED with oil. after starting the truck up without the filter on i noticed a big amount of "blow-by" coming out of the CDR tube. after checking the CDR i found the diaphram ripped. causing all this oil to be shot in and around the intake.

after filter replacement performance is about the same. still hitting 4psi max.

i have been thinking about replacing it with a draft tube but i dont want to loose oil. i think the tube will not re-coop oil as well as the CDR even if you route it correctly. am i on the right page?

id like to fix this too before i swap the engine in

Same question as SPRK here, I don't want oil in my exhaust pipes or intercooler pipes, do I have to choose between them? lol

Vent it overboard, RDT.
That's the best answer. Those of us who are looking to do a RDT-into-exhaust setup are doing so because either the smell bothers us and/or we're trying to keep tree-huggers off our backs. If neither of those are a concern for you, a straight-up RDT will work just fine and will be considerably easier ;Sweet

FWIW I haven't done anything further on my RDT-into-exhaust setup primarily because I'm waiting to take my truck out of service. I'm thinking about bending and running a piece of hard pipe from the engine to the exhaust, with rubber connections at both ends, just to keep from having to worry about the rubber being eaten away...but that may be too ambitious; haven't decided for certain...

Tim, FWIW, I've had my Nylon rubber line on Goldie now for several years with just a black pipe adapter at the exhaust pipe and it's not showing any signs of failure. Still as rigid as the day I installed it.;Sweet
